Smart Contract Engineer, DeFi Protocols
Enterprise onchain finance infrastructure, NYC
About the role
The smart contract team here has shipped multiple decentralized primitives from lending markets to vaults, and is bringing that to enterprise-scale financial institutions. The seat fits either archetype, protocol designer or low-level Solidity builder, as long as you have real protocol contribution: deployed to mainnet, owned meaningful components, and can explain how a lending protocol works under the hood. Security and testing rigor matter as much as design.
What you will own
- Research and design of novel protocol mechanisms around vaults, lending, and other DeFi primitives.
- Protocol design decisions and the tradeoffs across trust assumptions, efficiency, and security.
- Solidity contracts with comprehensive test suites: unit, fork, fuzzing, and invariant testing.
- Security and organizational standards for an open source codebase.
What we are looking for
- Production Solidity deployed to mainnet, with ownership of meaningful protocol components, not just integrations.
- Deep knowledge of lending and vault codebases such as Aave, Morpho, Compound, MakerDAO, Euler, Yearn V3, or ERC-7540.
- Foundry (preferred) or Hardhat, with fuzzing and invariant testing experience.
- Understands lending mechanics, collateralization, and capital flows, not just the code.
Nice to have
- Audits or close work with auditors, gas optimization, CTFs, hackathons.
- Vyper, Rust, Cairo, or CosmWasm, and blockchain architecture beyond contracts (rollups, ZK, node ops).
- Active DeFi user.
