Founding Forward Deployed Engineer

About the role
The product plugs directly into the EHR and fills in billing codes, modifiers and justification on its own, powered by fine-tuned medical LLMs. It's already live with leading specialty practices, and the company just closed its seed round and is expanding into new workflows. This role is an engineer first who owns customer success. When a practice expects the product to do something it doesn't, you have the platform knowledge and credibility to educate them, push back, and turn real gaps into product fixes. You'll write the FDE playbook and have a path to build and lead the team.
What you will own
- • Deployments end to end, from onboarding through go-live and steady state, always shortening time to go-live
- • Customer-driven features in Python and TypeScript/React, built so every customer benefits
- • Model QA in the field: analyzing coding accuracy at each practice and giving the ML team precise feedback
- • Customer reporting and impact analyses on revenue, accuracy and coder workload
- • Turning recurring field issues into systemic product fixes
- • Retention and expansion as the trusted technical partner to practice leaders, coders and surgeons
- • The FDE playbook, with a path to build the team
What we are looking for
- • 3+ years building and shipping production software: strong Python, TypeScript/React, solid SQL and hands-on cloud
- • Direct customer-facing technical experience (forward deployed, solutions engineering, implementation or technical consulting)
- • Comfortable owning the relationship, including telling a customer no and showing them a better way
- • Clear, confident communication with everyone from engineers to surgeons
- • Startup drive and real ownership
- • US based and authorized to work without sponsorship; able to travel up to 10%
Nice to have
- • EHR experience, especially integrations (athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Epic, NextGen), HL7/FHIR or claims data
- • Hands-on AI/ML or LLM product experience in production
- • Medical billing, coding or revenue cycle knowledge (CPT, ICD-10, E/M, modifiers, denials)
- • Healthtech, HIPAA-regulated or early-stage startup experience
