Engineering Manager (Hands-On Technical Lead)

About the role
This is a high-bar, hands-on engineering leadership role. The ideal person is an IC first and a leader second, still actively writing production code, and comfortable clearing coding and system design assessments at a high bar. It is best described as a Technical Lead, not a traditional Engineering Manager. Product engineering only; infrastructure, DevOps, and platform-heavy leaders will not be a fit.
What you will own
- Delivery of complex product features end to end.
- Writing and reviewing production code across frontend and backend.
- System design and architecture decisions with product and design partners.
- Mentoring engineers through hands-on technical guidance.
What we are looking for
- Seven to ten or more years of engineering, previously a Senior or Staff Engineer before moving into leadership.
- Recent production code, and the ability to pass hands-on coding and system design interviews.
- Depth in React and TypeScript on the front end, or Node, Go, or Python on the back end, ideally both.
- Background at product-driven SaaS companies with high engineering bars.

- Building AI-powered product features and integrating models into user-facing systems.
